Barbara Ann Bemus (Bixby) - Class Of 1945

Barbara Ann Bemus (Bixby)

Barbara Bemus Bixby, born March 17, 1928, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2007, after a full life.  Barbara is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dr. John C. Bixby, sons, Mark and Paul, and daughter, Allison.  Barbara particularly delighted in visiting with her grandchildren, Taya and Ian, and thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow in many ways.

An alumnus of Carleton College in Minnesota, Barbara and husband were longtime California residents of Pasadena, Newport Beach, and Laguna Niguel.  When not traveling throughout the world, Barbara was a volunteer for years at the Blue Bell Foundation in Laguna Beach working with abandoned, homeless cats.  She also was a regular supporter of the Wildlife Fund.

A kind, gentle, intelligent lady, well liked by many, she passed on after having frequently expressed thankfulness for the many blessings received in this life.  We are most grateful to her for all of the unseen gifts she has given to us.  As she requested, no memorial serice is planned.  Her cremated remains will be scattered simply into the Pacific Ocean along with ashes of one of her own favorite cats who died earlier this year.  Barbara is greatly missed by family and friends.  "There is no death - when the body is worn out, the soul leaves the body and goes on."
