Eugene H Gene Blanche

Eugene Hornsby Blanche Jr., 78, a retired advertising executive and Greenwich, Connecticut resident, died May 10, 2003 at Greenwich Hospital. He died of brain cancer, said his family. Born October 31, 1924 in Los Angeles, he was the son of the late Margaret and Eugene Blanche. 

Gene began his career in pharmaceutical marketing and sales. He then joined the J Walter Thompson Advertising Agency in New York City, where he was a vice president for most of his 27 years with the agency. Gene attended Texas A&M University, and graduated from the University of Cincinnati, majoring in accounting and finance. He did graduate work in finance at New York University.

In Greenwich, Gene served on the board of the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency for seven years. He was on the board of the Belle Haven Land Trust and a member of the Belle Haven Club.

His wife of 57 years, Dorothy Bertoli Blanche (SPHS '43) of Greenwich; a son, Jeffrey Blanche of Greenwich; two daughters, Susan Bannon of Mercer Island, Washington and Elizabeth Roth of Winnetka, Illinois; and seven grandsons survive him.
