Phil went steady with my good friend Barbara. We used to go watch him play baseball. He would often come over to my house and share old baseball magazines for me to read. We lost touch when I went to college but years later he showed up at a family party at my dad's home in West Covina. I was astonished to see him there. When I asked he said, "I married your cousin". He was married for years to my cousin, Rinda White and we saw or talked to each other occasionally. My husband liked to talk baseball with him-a really nice guy.
I knew Phil in his latter years. He lived here in Arcadia and raced his 57 Chevies at the original Irwidale dragstrip. He was a nice man and was sorry to see that he passed away at what I believe was a young age.
