L.A. Columnist, Lynn Spencer Succumbs at 75
Lynn Spencer, well-known Los Angeles columnist, died Thursday, January 17, 1974 at Huntington Memorial Hospital. The victim of a stroke, he was 75.
Born in Monrovia, he attended area schools before going on to Occidental College and the University of California at Berkeley where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon.
A journalist for 56 years, Spencer wrote a popular column under the name of Cholly Angeleno.
He is survived by his widow, Mary Doerr Spencer; his stepdaughter, Susan B. Selsert; a brother, Bruce W. Spencer (SPHS '15) of San Gabriel; and a sister, Mrs. W. Kenneth Potts (SPHS '12) of Greenbrae, California.
