James H "Jim" McDonald - Class Of 1943

James McDonald age 80, passed away peacefully May 13, 2005.  Jim was born March 27, 1925 to Harrison and Marguerite McDonald in Pasadena, California.

Jim left high school before graduating and served on a naval destroyer in the South Pacific during World War II.  Jim had met Dorothea (Dolly) in high school and after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, he married Dolly on March 29, 1947.  They were married 58 years.

Jim and Dolly moved to Davis while Jim attended UC Davis and studied dentistry.  After a year, they returned to Southern California.  Jim received a bachelor's degree in geology from UCLA.  He then joined Humble Oil & Refining Company.  In 1959, Jim was transferred to Chico where he and Dolly lived for 46 years.

Jim is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Dolly McDonald; sons, Steve McDonald and Doug McDonald; daughter Luann McDonald; sister, Ruth Edmondson; and their families.  In lieu of a memorial service, the family requests for all to celebrate Jim's life by taking a drive or a motorcycle ride, planning a camping trip, going fishing or hunting or canoeing or boating or water skiing of snow skiing or flying or traveling--any fun adventure or activity.
