Bill was a good student at South Pasadena - San Marino High School and was a member of the track team; his specialty was the Pole Vault. He played piano and had artistic talents. He was a member of the 393rd US Army Infantry. He was killed in action on March 2, 1945 in Elsdorf, Germany, at the age of 20. Before he went to war, he was a great "big brother" to his two younger brothers, Oskar '46 and Bertram '51.
