Robert John Thompson

Robert John Thompson was born in Los Angeles on August 29, 1926 and died in Lakewood, California on February 24, 2007 at the age of 80.  He was descended from the pioneers of California.

Bob served as a Coxswain in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.  He was a journeyman plumber for 45 years.  He coached Park League in Lakewood when his kids were young.  He loved camping out with friends, fishing, playing cards and visiting.  He loved eating out at a good restaurant, cooking, going to Las Vegas, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and being a grandpa.

He is predeceased by his son, Robert Melvin Thompson and his first wife, Mary Ruth.  He is survived by his second wife, Eleanor; daughters, Susan Stevens and Cynthia Swanson; son, Gary Thompson; stepdaughter, Susan Turner; stepson Mark Turner; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.
