Jim was a good friend of mine in high school. We played a lot of baseball together. I remember one occasion when he was working part time at a gas station and saved a small child from serious injury. As Jim was servicing the father's car the child got out and was directly in the path of another car pulling into the gas station. Jim quickly hurled himself towards the child, knocking the child out of the way and preventing him from injury. In the process one of Jim's wrists was run over by the incoming car and his wrist was fractured. The child's father was so appreciative that every night after that he would bring Jim dinner at the gas station.
Jim was a very good person and I was sorry to hear of his passing.
