James 'Jim' Ray born December 4, 1942, died at age 59 of cancer on December 22, 2001 in Glendale, Arizona. Jim served in the National Guard 1967-1973 and was a wonderful husband and father. He left this world much too soon. He is survived by his wife Betty Chance Ray (SPHS '61) and children Kelly and Michael.
My brothers and I grew up just down the street from the Ray's on Meridian Avenue. We three Ledder boys soon became friends with the 6 Ray kids (Don, Jim, Jack, Rita, Rosemary and Joannie, as I recall). We never lacked for playmates on that street. Jim and I hung out from time to time. They were a great family to have as neighbors. RIP, Jim.
