Virginia 'Ginny' Kloezeman (Lakey) (1966)

I met Mary Ellen when she moved to South Pasadena from Pennsylvania during her first grade year.  We attended Lincoln school together and by the third grade she had moved two doors up the street from me.  As we got older our lives became very different, but the friendship remained.  She was the truest friend I have ever known.  Even when we had not seen each other for months or years, we met as though we had seen each other yesterday.  She was honest to a fault and knew how to go straight to the heart of anything that may be troubling you.  Truly an "angel among us" as she always seemed to know when you needed a listening ear.

It was one of the saddest days of my life when I learned that lung cancer had finally caught up with her from the smoking habit she acquired as a young teenager.  She loved her children and their children and had she lived beyond the forty-five years she was allowed she would have continued to be loved by them and those who knew her well.           Ginny Lakey
