George Albion Gibbs II passed away peacefully December 16, 2013. He was born September 22, 1933 in Pasadena, California. He graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 1955. Always an athlete, he played football for the Cal Bears. After graduation, he served as a US Air Force lieutenant in Newfoundland, Canada. His lifelong love of the outdoors led him to move his family from San Gabriel to Mercer Island, Washington in 1973. After a sales career, he owned Il Vecchio, a custom bicycle shop, for over 20 years.

George is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Gibbs; his children, Kathryn Gibbs, Margaret (William) Hendrickson, and George (Ann) Gibbs III; and seven grandchildren who he dearly loved. George leaves a legacy of a love of the arts, design, literature, and intellectual curiosity.
