Sally Logan (Hunter) - Class Of 1952

Sally Logan (Hunter)

On August 7, 2018, Sally Logan Hunter, with her family at her side, passed away peacefully at the Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. Sally was born in Evanston, Illinois on May 19, 1934. Very shortly thereafter, Sally and her family moved to Southern California and Sally grew up in the Pasadena area. Sally leaves behind a loving husband of 61 years, Harold Hunter (SPHS '51); her son John Hunter and spouse Brett; daughter, Sarah Hunter Abel and spouse John; and five grandchildren.

Upon graduating from South Pasadena-San Marino High School, Sally attended college at the University of California, Berkeley. She was a sister in the sorority of Kappa Kappa Gamma, leaving scores of friends and colleagues who loved her dearly. Following graduation from the University, Sally taught in primary schools where her many students learned quickly of her loving, but stern, technique. Sally and her husband Harold were married in 1957, thereafter moving to Palo Alto where Harold attended law school, and Sally continued to teach.

Settling with her husband in the Pasadena area, Sally belonged and contributed to many charitable organizations, including the Pasadena Junior League, the Kappa Alumni Association and most importantly, the Pasadena Guild of the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Social organizations included a 52-year membership in Pasadena's Valley Hunt Club. Sally was a gregarious, kind, and loyal friend, wife, and mother. She was widely loved and enjoyed by her numerous contemporary friends and acquaintances. She loved many friendly social exchanges which she so often enjoyed with friends and neighbors. Amazingly, at the time of her passing, she was still an active member of her beloved 'Kindergarten Club' composed of many of those classmates still living. Sally had great interest in amateur painting, collecting antiques, and extensive world travel with her loving husband and children. She will be long remembered by her many, many loving friends, both in and out of California. More than this, she will be remembered and respected for her bravery and resolve, which became all the more apparent during her waning years. All are fortunate to have had such a magnificent friend, wife, mother, and grandmother. All of us are enriched by her friendship, love, and courage.
