William 'Bill' Moran

William J. Moran of Upland died at San Antonio Community Hospital on December 17, 2006.  He was born December 5, 1920 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to Eleanor and William J. Moran, III, moving to California in 1922 where he lived until his death.

Bill attended South Pasadena High School and Pasadena City College.  He took over operation of the family business, William J. Moran Company in 1942.  In 1970, he sold the company and founded Moran Properties Inc. which he ran until his death.  Among the many projects completed under his direction were Mansion House Center, St. Louis, Missouri, Ambassador College, projects for Fluor Corporation, Century City Medical Plaza, buildings on the campus of Pepperdine University, Pasadena Hilton Hotel and Offices, Portland Center Apartments, and J.P.L. Tracking Range, Goldstone, California, redevelopment of the Aerojet General Building in Downey, and redevelopment of the Bethlehem Steel Building in Vernon, CA.  In later years, his endeavors concentrated primarily in industrial development.  He was a California Real Estate Broker, Licensed General, Plumbing, and Electrical Contractor and registered Professional Mechanical Engineer.  Memberships included the Young Presidents' Organization, the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers and Vaqueros Del Desierto.

Bill is survived by his wife Sharon of 32 years; sons, Rocky (Kayla) Moran, Jeff (Stacy) Mead; daughters, Julie Moran, Peggy (Jerry) Cole, and Jennifer (Dave) Stone.  His legacy also lives on in 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and he will be deeply missed.
