Jim Noe

July 30, 1932 - January 26, 2016

James Travis Cotton Noe, 83, of Champaign, Illinois passed away in the company of his wife, Mary. Jim was born in Whittier, California, the son of Sarah Shepherd and John Noe. He was graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1954 with a bachelor's degree in English.

Jim married Joan Tyler in December 1955 following his completion of Air Force Officer Training School. They began their marriage in O'Fallon, Illinois where Jim was stationed at Scott Air Force Base. The couple then moved to Alaska. Jim was promoted to Captain before his honorable discharge. The couple then moved to southern California and Jim worked as a salesman at his uncle's business, Powerline Nails and Staples.

Determined to better himself, Jim attended law school at night and was awarded the degree of Juris Doctor from Loyola of Los Angeles Law School, where he was a member of the St Thomas More Honor Society. Jim was admitted to the California Bar in 1974. During the course of his legal career, he served as real estate general counsel for a Fortune 500 company. Jim also provided pro bono legal services for people who could not afford counsel.

Jim's wife, Joan passed away in 2010. In 2011 he married Mary Gartlan Carolan, a friend of the family. Jim and Mary enjoyed five years and many good times with friends and family in Ireland and in the United States before his death. Survivors include his wife, Mary; his daughter, Jennifer (Richard) Pahre; and two grandchildren.
