My name is Bill Woodward '50. - Carolyn '51 and I were team-mates in the So Pas HS Marching Band in 1949. She played the flute and I played trumpet. We dated many times and had fun times together. I met Bob Mulvin '51 who in 1949 was Carolyn's neighbor, living in the Apt. below the Roden family. Bob M. was also my team-mate on the 1950 JV Baseball Team. We called him 'Rapid Robert.' (Pic in '50 Copa). So it was that I knew both Carolyn and Bob well and loved them very much. They were fun loving, gregarious, smart people (Pic above).
As evidence of their smarts - Carolyn went on to Stanford '55 and Bob M. into the Army's Foreign Language School at Monterey. George R. 'Bobby' Roden (Carolyn's brother) was also a close friend who after a couple of years at the CA Maritme Academy in Vallejo, CA, went on to flight school at Pensacola, FL to become a US Navy pilot. Bobby R. and I went hunting ducks near Long Beach, & doves near San Dimas many times together. We'd bring them back and Mom R. and Carolyn prepared a family feast after we all pulled feathers. Sandy Roden & Bob Sr were also fun loving parents.
I have great memories of all three of these 'special' SPHS Alums and of the whole Roden family. Bob Mulvin was a funny and loyal friend. I shall cherish them all so long as I live and if possible ... thereafter
