Priscilla Roth (Feigen) - Class Of 1939

Priscilla Roth (Feigen)

Priscilla Roth Feigen, a Palo Alto resident and a secretary in Stanford University's mathematics department for more than 40 years, died July 26, 2001. She was 79.

Ms. Feigen, the widow of former Stanford physiology Professor George Feigen, worked in the math department from 1949 to 1996. She and her husband traveled extensively, and she was an avid gardener and lover of flowers.

''She loved wildflowers,'' said Robert Ruether, Ms. Feigen's companion, who knew her for 14 years. ''She made pilgrimages to the yellow violets in the Plains. Something must have been in her youth about the yellow violets. She used to always look for them, every year.''

Ms. Feigen was born October 31, 1921 in Pasadena and grew up in South Pasadena. She was a graduate of Pomona College. Her great-grandfather was Edward Rust, an early settler of California.
