Tom H Smith, CPA, of Laguna Woods, California, was 89. He was born in Long Beach, California and raised in San Marino. Upon graduation from high school he joined the US Coast Guard and served in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska on board a Cutter during World War II.

Tom attended USC on the GI Bill and joined the accounting firm of Ernst and Ernst. In 1958 he moved the family to Newport Beach to open his own firm. In 1975 he and his son David went into the liquor store business together and operated three stores in South Orange County for 25 years.

Tom was a private pilot, sailor, and world traveler with his wife of 65 years, Joann. He is survived by his wife, Joann Smith; son David (Dawn) Smith; daughter Cheryl (Michael) Molera; and brother, Ed Smith (SPHS '44).
