George W Gregory - Class Of 1949

George W Gregory

George passed away April 23, 2011 after an eight-week hospital stay with complications of congestive heart failure.  George was the first editor that the alumni association had for its magazines and newsletters during the founding years of SPHSAA.  He was a friendly guy and proud of his South Pasadena history.

George Gregory and I met on the jungle gym at Kindergarten and we were to become best friends throughout the next 13 years until graduation.  We did everything together from going to downtown LA on the big red car to see wrestling matches to having time trials around the block with my 11 year younger sister in a baby carriage.  George's family had one of the first TVs on the block so I spent every Tuesday night at his house for the Texaco Star Theater with Milton Berle.  We listened to country and western music and loved to annoy our parents by buying Spike Jones records.  After graduating from SPSMSHS we went our separate ways, but managed to stay in touch.  Of course we sat together at our 50th reunion just a short twelve years ago.  He will be missed.
