Tim Scheck - Class Of 1955

After an energetic five years with a rare salivary gland cancer, Timothy R Scheck (October 6, 1937 - December 4, 2013) passed away at the age of 76, surrounded by family and friends. Tim loved skiing, tennis, scuba diving, travel, his garden, Stanford, the Navy, and fixing just about anything. Anyone who knew Tim knew he was endlessly generous with his time, tools, and talents, connecting effortlessly with people and living a motto of "if not me, who?"

Born in Los Angeles, the first of three children, Tim attended South Pasadena-San Marino High School and earned both his BA and MBA from Stanford University. It was at Stanford that Tim met the love of his life, Carol Pearson, and they wed soon after meeting. Through Stanford, Tim joined the Navy ROTC, serving over 25 years before retiring as a Captain.

Tim spent 38 years in business operations and management at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, finding variety and challenge in many special projects. He volunteered with Kiwanis, served on the boards of the CCYMCA and Laguna Surf condominium association, and delighted in showing anyone who was interested, how to better use their Apple products.

He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Carol Scheck, two daughters, Ann (John) McAlearney and Gayle (Jason) Northrop; three grandchildren, Fiona McAlearney, Blake Northrop, and Zachary Northrop; brother Terry C (Mary Ann) Scheck (SPHS '60); sister, Sally Scheck Montana; and countless amazing friends, colleagues and relatives from every area of his active, involved life.  Tim was loved by all and will be sorely missed by many.  Respects can be paid by remembering Tim's incredible spirit--when pruning a rose, enjoying a sunset, skiing the perfect run, hitting a great tennis shot, or making the choice to always put others and family first--just as Tim did. The family will be honoring Tim's life privately in a spring celebration when his roses are in bloom.
