Beverly Herst (Funk)

Beverly Herst Funk, 90, of Pontiac, Illinois died April 11, 2018. Beverly was born in Springfield, Illinois on September 21, 1927, the daughter of Raymond Herst and Florence Brown Herst. She married Duncan Funk in January 1949. Surviving are two sons, Eric (Angela) Funk of Armington, Brian (Terry) Funk of McLean; a daughter, Dru Ann Funk of Bluffdale, Utah; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years; a sister, Shirley; and an infant son, Stuart.

Beverly attended Hutchings Intermediate High School in Detroit, Michigan and was a graduate of South Pasadena-San Marino High School in South Pasadena, California. She attended Illinois State University from 1945 - 1946 and was employed by Sangamo Electric Company prior to her marriage.

Beverly was a homemaker and very active in the Pontiac community. She was a member of the McLean County Home Bureau from 1950 - 1960; was a long-time member of NSDAR, a member of the Church Circle the Setrucha Class and was a deacon of First Presbyterian Church in Pontiac. She volunteered for OSF Saint James Hospital from 1975 - 2000, was a patron of Pontiac Public Library, was a member of the Clionian Literary Society, was a member and past president of Pontiac Woman's Club, and was a member and committee chair for Pontiac Schools PTA. A member of several bridge clubs, Beverly was an accomplished seamstress, designing and making costumes for Pontiac Township High School plays and community events. Beverly and Duncan enjoyed taking tips to Europe.
