Robert W Malone

Robert Wayne Malone passed away in Pasadena on August 8, 2017. He was a resident of San Marino for over 40 years. Bob was born on September 9, 1928 in Windom, Minnesota to Margaret and Maurice Malone. He and his infant sister Mary (Mimi) moved to South Pasadena in 1934 after their mother died unexpectedly.

Bob and Mimi had a wonderful childhood being raised by their loving aunt, Ethel Malone. Bob graduated from South Pasadena-San Marino High School and from USC, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He was a past member of the Solteros, Valley Club, San Gabriel Country Club and The Valley Hunt Club. He was a past president of the SM Little League, and helped pave the way for girls to play in the League. He served in the US Army in the Korean War and was stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco. He enjoyed a successful career in the insurance industry at both National American Insurance and Western General Agency.

Bob was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Jane Lynn Malone (SPHS '46). He is survived by his daughters Karen (Brad) Ottoson, Cayce (Don) Sheppard, Colleen (Scott) Amour, and Kelly (Ron) Helmuth-Malone, and son Bob Malone, Jr. He was grandfather to seven.
