Catherine "Cookie" Cass Waldron was born April 8th 1931 and passed away June 15th 2009. She grew up in the Monterey Hills of South Pasadena and lived there until getting married in 1950.She had her first horse at age 6 and continued to have horses for the next 46 years. She was a superb rider and took part in many equestrian events all over the southland.

She and her husband Rex had three children while living in Costa Mesa. In 1963 the family moved to Placerville in El Dorado County. After splitting with Rex in the 80's she lived for awhile in Sacramento then returning to Placerville for the remainder of her life. Turning from horses she became an expert in historical automobiles. She owned a 1930 Ford model A and a 1966 Ford Thunderbird convertible with license "Fun Fun". She was in docent class no.1 at the California Automobile Museum in Sacramento. She belonged to the Northern Calif. Thunderbird Owners Club as well as the Capitol A's and the Hangtown A's. She took her turn as president, treasurer, and secretary of all these clubs. She was a tireless contributor and universally loved by everyone.

My family built a home next to the Cass family in 1938 and Cookie has been a close friend for all of 71 years. Fourteen years ago she contracted a form of Lymphoma and fought it with great bravery carrying on with all her interests until the very end. She was strong of character and a real fun loving girl. She will be greatly missed by all her many friends and family. I was most privileged to be her close friend for all those years.
