Richard Cain

Richard Cain, 84, of Grammer, Indiana, died March 4, 2016 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born in Hollywood, California, October 5, 1931, the son of Richard and Sally Maguire Cain.

Richard retired from Ivy Tech Community College in 1997 as Director of Visual Communications. In 1988 he was awarded the Glenn Sample Award for Indiana Teacher of the Year. He was a graduate from the University of California Santa Barbara with a degree in Fine Arts. He held dual memberships in St. Bartholmew Catholic Church in Columbus and St. Anne's Catholic Church in North Vernon. He was a member of the Atterbury Bakalar Air Museum, Chapter No.927 EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and Young Eagles Program. He liked model airplanes, as well as, radio controlled planes and enjoyed painting in both oil and water. He was a very active golfer.

He is survived by his wife, Margot Cain of Grammer. They were married at Camp Gordon, California in 1955. Also surviving are his children, Richard Cain Jr of New Florence, Pennsylvania, S Thomas Cain of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Sarah Yaworsky of Rochester, New York, Jeffrey Cain of Tampa, Florida, Laura Robinson of DePere, Wisconsin, Stephen Cain of Dayton, Ohio, and Elizabeth Hoff of Marietta, Georgia; 22 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
