Virginia Leishman (Lawler) - Class Of 1945 VIEW PROFILE

Virginia Leishman (Lawler)

Virginia (Dynee) Leishman Lawler passed away peacefully listening to music on October 15, 2017. Born February 5, 1928 in Oakland, California, to Robert and Theda Leishman, Dynee enrolled in Pomona College after graduating from South Pasadena-San Marino High School. She graduated with a BA in fine arts in 1950 and began working as a professional photographer.

Dynee met Bob Lawler after graduation and they fell in love. They were married in 1952. Less than three years later, they welcomed their first daughter and Dynee became a very involved parent, active in the PTA and assorted youth groups. By the summer of 1973, Dynee's daughters were old enough that Dynee decided to take a couple of classes at Moorpark College. In the fall of '73, she decided to take more classes, including photography. Her photo instructor was Janek Grzywacz (John Gray) and Dynee decided to start cracking. After taking pretty much every photo class, she wound up as lab assistant/part-time instructor. She loved her students and her coworkers and finally retired in 1998.

Dynee spent the rest of her years traveling with her husband, gardening, and experimenting with various media. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert Lawler, who passed away in July 2017. She is survived by her daughters, Marta and Cathy, and two granddaughters.
