Frank Shigeru Takeyama

Frank Takeyama, 85, born February 13, 1928, peacefully passed away at his Torrance home on February 5, 2014 with his loving family at his side.

Frank served in the US Marine Corps (1950-51) with the "Baker" Company (aka "The Baker Bandits", his beloved Band of Brothers), 1st Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division, as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War, and was an active member of the Japanese American Korean War Veterans. Frank was well known for his leadership, dedication, devotion, kind heartedness, quick wit, humor, and all the wonderful stories he shared about his life.

Frank is survived by his wife of 63 years, Fumiko (Kikumoto) Takeyama; daughter Jo Takeyama of Fall City, Washington and four sons, Tom (Karen) of Mission Viejo, Jeffrey (Jane) of Malibu, Mark (Yunlan) of Rowland Heights and Dan (Sharon) of San Marino. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; brother Glenn (Cynthia) Takeyama of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters Dorothy Fujii of San Gabriel, Patricia Murakami of Thousand Oaks, and Fusako 'May' Yamaguchi of San Diego; and many relatives and friends.
