Charles Gilbert McGaughey (September 8, 1925 - October 31, 2012) was a US Army combat veteran and had degrees from UC Berkeley and USC. He worked for the Navy as a radiation hazard scientist and retired from the VA Medical Center in Long Beach where he worked as a research biochemist in Oral Disease Research from 1953 - 1981.

He was a nature enthusiast and spent his remaining years studying nature and the environment.
