Mary Ann East Bean, died December 4, 2012 at her home in San Diego. She was born in Stillwater, Minnesota on July 15, 1929. She lived in San Marino, California until moving to Boulder, Colorado for college. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. It was there she met the love of her life, Justin East with whom she spent the next 63 years. They were married in May 1950 at St Barnabas Episcopal Church in Denver, Colorado.

Throughout her life Mary was passionate about the arts and her community. She volunteered for the Junior League, Denver Museum of Art, the Denver Symphony, the Denver Botanical Gardens, and St John's Cathedral. As president of the Cherry Creek Schools Board of Education she championed the importance of arts in education. 

She is survived by her son Bryan East (San Diego) and daughter Penny McBain (Denver) in addition to four grandchildren.
