Susan G. Sauer passed away with family at her side on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the age of 79, from cancer.  She was born in Los Angeles, California on July 10, 1929 to Hiram and Helen Grover, and grew up in Southern California.

Sue attended Colorado College graduating in 1951 with a bachelor's degree in Zoology.  She married G. Russell Sauer in 1950 and together they had three sons during their sixteen years of marriage.  They moved from Colorado to Albuquerque in 1958 where Sue continued to reside for 51 years.  She successfully owned and operated a swimming pool business for about 15 years, and spent her retired life dedicated to volunteering at the Rio Grande Zoo and counseling people in need.

Susan is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Steve and Glenda Sauer of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Jim and Eileen Sauer of Austin, Texas, and Tom and Janine Sauer of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
