Paul Moorefield

Paul Moorefield of Corvallis, Oregon died at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center on November 15, 2005. He was 58. Paul was born October 26, 1947 in Olean, New York to Emmett and Rowena Moorefield. When he was a child his family moved to southern California where he graduated from high school and then attended Biola University.

Paul married Carlene Bernstrom in August 1967 and in 1970 he graduated from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, with a degree in music. Later that year, he entered the Air Force and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, until his discharge in 1973. He then attended Western Seminary School in Portland, Oregon from 1973 to 1975.

Paul and his family moved to Corvallis, where he was the associate pastor at First Baptist Church under Dr. Herb Anderson. During this period, he also worked toward his doctorate, which he earned from the California School of Theology in 1986. Soon thereafter he established the American Baptist Church in Corvallis where he was pastor until 1992, when he retired because of health issues. He continued as an active member of the First Baptist Church where he also played the organ.

Paul is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Court and Christine Moorefield of Midway City, California; his daughter, Kristyn Moorefield of Portland; his brother, Bruce Moorefield (SPHS '62) of Rancho Cucamunga, California and his sister, Grace, of Glendora, California.
