Jonette M 'Joni' Strasburg - Class Of 1959

Jonette M 'Joni' Strasburg

Joni Strasburg

March 24, 1941 - July 3, 2019

Our beloved Joni passed from this world following a tragic accident. Joni was a longtime resident of South Pasadena. At SPHS she was a Tigerette, Flag Girl, and Song Girl. She worked at Taco Treat and attended PCC where she earned her AA. Joni loved to travel and went to Hawaii, Europe, and Mexico. She loved visiting San Francisco and New York during her vacations from Union Bank.

Joni was well known to be a strong, independent person with a wry sense of humor and a ready smile. She touched many lives while she was here, not a few of them canine and feline. Joni was a true animal lover, with a passion for the rescue and care of dogs and cats. She saved many of them over her lifetime, and joked about being known as 'The Dog Lady of South Pasadena'.

She was also a very important part of the lives of many children. While Joni had no children of her own, she was that adult that kids love. She was often found babysitting, officiating at dog weddings, or delivering cookies, and she could always be counted on to support 'her' kids:  Blaine, Denise, Josh, Ryan, Laura, Robert, Cassidy, Rex, and Elsa.

Joni is preceded in death by her forever partner and companion, Marlow Gregers, and is survived by several cousins - Richard, James, Gary and Geri Miller, and Candace McManners. She also leaves behind a large circle of friends and acquaintances, including the amazing Ladies of the Court, Annette Duston, Judith Trout, and a close group of friends she has known since high school.

Joni will be dearly missed by all who had the good fortune to know her - for those closest to her, the world has lost a bit of its brightness. We know that she would not want us to grieve, so instead we will drink a glass of good red wine (with dog hair in it) and send her our love. We will miss you, Joni!
