Harold G Parker

Harold Parker

July 2, 1942 - August 2022

As we are in the midst of a reunion of the class of 1960, we pause to share the sad news that Harold Parker died in August. He was a long-time participant in our Class of 1960 reunions, and he often contributed to them financially. Over the years, many classmates have found Harold to be a good, steadfast, and kind friend. In his later years, at the urging of one of his children, he created a book. One chapter was 'How My Life Turned out Differently Than Anticipated.' Harold had polio in the seventh grade and had about half a year to create a life plan. Not many of us do that, but Harold did. And he took it seriously. The plan included marriage, two children, challenging work, and a nice house. It did not include the approximately 20 years he lived with two different serious cancers. Harold's four goals were achieved, although not always as he expected. He had three completely unrelated careers. He had not two but six children, four from his first marriage and two from his second marriage to Vicki. He was very glad he found Vicki, and he loved each of his six children a lot. Although not exactly as planned, his was a life well lived.
