Jonathan Loomis

Jon Loomis passed on October 15, 2017. He was born April 1, 1942 in Oak Park, Illinois. He was the son of Irma and Robert Loomis.

In his early childhood the family moved to the Southern California area and Jon grew up in South Pasadena and graduated from South Pasadena High School. He tried a year at Dartmouth, then joined and served in the Navy from 1960-1966 as an Electronics Technician and Nuclear Power Reactor Operator on nuclear submarines. After serving our country Jon missed the west coast weather, the beach and surfing and returned to Southern California. He graduated from USC with a Master's degree and remained a true Trojan's fan throughout his life. Jon was an excellent athlete and was an avid rugby, football, baseball, and wrestling player and letterman in his high school and college years.

Jon later moved to the South Bay where he spent most of his life. He had a successful career in the financial services industry working for some prominent firms. After retirement, Jon spent a few years in the real estate industry. He was a huge fan of all sports, always enjoyed sharing a good story or joke and loved spending time with his friends and family.

Jon is survived by his wife of 22 years, Sydney Loomis, and his son Rob Loomis, daughter Katie (Damian) Ferris, from his first marriage to Dianne Loomis. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Lisa, and five grandchildren.
