Dennis Dalton (1968)

Bill was a long time friend, former roommate and one of Ma's Boys, or as we like to say, "Brothers with different mothers."  We were both on a Little League team (Toggery) when we were in the 5th and 6th grades, respectively.

Bill and I were roommates when he got drafted and served a tour of duty in Vietnam.  He spoke little of his experiences and it was not until after he passed that many of us found out that he was a true war hero.

I could always count on Bill to be there, especially in difficult situations and he was an incredible mechanic too.  Circa 1972, on a trip to Las Vegas, my car broke down halfway to our destination.  It was late at night and we found a payphone and we called Bill.  He borrowed Ma's car, drove 135 miles to help us, and he was able to use a set of old "points" to fix the broken ones in my car.  All without the benefit of any diagnostic equipment.  He then followed us back to South Pas.  Typical Bill.

Our older "kids" still remember "Billy Boy" and I think of him often.  He is greatly missed.

On Memorial Day:

On Memorial Day, it is a time to reflect,

for those who stood up, in order to protect.

One touched me more than any other.

We called him Billy Boy, but he was my brother.

On this special day, may our thoughts always connect.
