Cherry Kellogg (Noble) - Class Of 1939

Cherry Kellogg (Noble)

Cherry Kellogg Noble passed away peacefully at her home on April 17, 2013. A longtime resident of Belvedere, California, Cherry was born in Baker, Oregon on March 27, 1922. She graduated from Stanford where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority, in 1943 with a degree in Social Science. The previous year she married her Stanford sweetheart, Morgan Noble, to whom she was married for 63 years until his death in 2005.

Cherry and Morgan lived in Annapolis and San Francisco during the war years and afterward in Newport Beach where they raised their five children. In 1965 they returned to Northern California and settled in Belvedere. Cherry was a vigorous member of the community for four decades. One of the three original owners of the Shorebirds gallery on the Tiburon Boardwalk from 1969 to 1992, she was also a volunteer docent at the deYoung Museum and the China Cabin landmark site as well as a longtime supporter of the San Francisco Opera and Symphony. An active skier, tennis, and bridge player, Cherry was a member of the San Francisco Yacht Club and a past member of the Tiburon Peninsula Club for many years. Cherry was an adventurer and loved to travel, from trekking in Nepal to walking the Great Wall of China, from African safaris to numerous cultural trips throughout Europe and Asia. She enjoyed all aspects of travel, whether just with Morgan or family and friends.

Along with many descendants, Cherry is survived by her brother, Berk Kellogg (SPHS '43) of Corona Del Mar; five children, Ronald (Kari) Noble, Lynn Spiller, Alison (Craig) Hartman, Scott (Maryann) Noble, and Jeffrey (Cami) Noble; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren (plus three on the way). All of these and many friends in the community will feel a great loss that this strong, generous, and vibrant woman, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother has left in their lives.
