Darrin Carter - Class Of 1981

Darrin Carter

Darrin K Carter, of South Pasadena, California, born on June 2, 1963, passed away at age 54 on April 25, 2018 in Exeter, Virginia due to a car accident. He was in the coal mining industry as a driver at Mine Services Inc.

Virginia State Police investigated the single-vehicle crash that occurred at 5:30 pm on Route 68 in Wise County. The 2003 Chrysler Town and Country was traveling on Route 68 when it ran off the road. The driver overcorrected, running off the left side of the highway and down an embankment, striking a tree. Darrin was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, where he later died.

Darrin is survived by his cherished partner, Kaye Smith. He will be sorely missed by his sister, Linda Carter Antley (SPHS '80) and his nieces Holly, Ivy, and Melissa. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Pepper, Copper, Baby, and Minnie Pearl.

He had a passion for Slacklining, at its onset. Darrin Carter was the first Master of the Highwalk at Lost Arrow Spire. Darrin, you soar even higher in the hearts of those of us who loved you. Rest in Peace my brother, until we meet again on the other side!
