Charles Edwin Cunningham was born in South Pasadena, California on December 6, 1906. He attended Pomona College and graduated from Stanford University in Electrical Engineering. He grew orchids as a hobby and had over 500 plants in his greenhouse. He played golf about four times a week and even at age 80 he could still pull his own golf cart, except in the summer when it was really hot.  He died July 23, 1996.
