Albert 'Al' Garlinghouse

Albert Garlinghouse, Jr, beloved husband, father, and good friend, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Myers Garlinghouse, his sons, Rick Garlinghouse, Jim (Annie) Garlinghouse, and Tom (Lauren) Garlinghouse.

Albert was born in Los Angeles on March 21, 1933. He attended South Pasadena-San Marino High School and graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor degree in civil engineering. He served four interesting years in the US Army stationed in Germany. A devoted family man, Albert was married to his wife Barbara for over 50 years and raised three sons.

He worked for Garbro Brothers, and after moving to Capistrano Beach, became a building and remodeling contractor. An active man, Albert served on the board of directors of several local organizations. He was a practical man involved in the local community who "got things done." He loved being in the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and nature. He liked reading history and biographies, in addition to novels and was an avid follower of world and political events. Albert was extremely fond of crossword puzzles and was a fan of big dogs. He attended local theatre and musical concerts, including jazz and classical.

Albert enjoyed life in California. He lived on the beaches, deserts and mountains. He especially loved the eastern slope of the High Sierras, including Yosemite National Park and exploring the hiking trails of Mammoth Lakes and its surrounding environment. He undertook vacations with his family to various countries and exotic destinations, as well as later travels with his wife and close friends.

Albert will be missed by his family, his relatives, and many close friends.
