Frank Schwartz

Frank Maycumber Schwartz, a Palo Alto resident who served in the Navy and was a financial planner, had died. He was 85. Frank, who died April 14, 2019, was born to Marion Maycumber and Leonard K Schwartz on February 9, 1934, in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated from South Pasadena High School and earned a bachelor's in industrial engineering from Stanford, where he played rugby and football.

He served in the Navy from 1956 to 1958. He was a navigator aboard the USS Orleck and relished his time in the Navy Reserves, traveling throughout the Pacific and the Far East. He then received an MBA in 1960 from Harvard and married Carolyn in 1961. He worked at the Food Machinery Corporation (FMC) in San Jose before starting a career as a financial planner. He moved to Palo Alto in 1970.

Frank was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club and Menlo Church. He enjoyed leading group hikes to view wildflowers, gardening, fishing in Lake Tahoe, cheering for Stanford football and joining his friends in bible study and fellowship. He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Brown of Portola Valley; children, Greg Schwartz of Brisbane and Linda Reed of Menlo Park; and four grandchildren.
