Joan Hibbard (Roberts)

Joan Hibbard Roberts

June 16, 1937 - March 6, 2021

Joan Hibbard Roberts, a retired teacher, Air Force veteran, loving mother, and aunt, passed away at her home after a period of failing health.

Joan was an intelligent, sensitive, thoughtful, and caring individual who went out of her way to remember people on holidays and birthdays with handmade gifts and cards of appreciation. She was a deeply religious, complex individual with lots of angels, and yes, a few demons, but in her heart, she sincerely cared for all people, especially those with special needs and for worthwhile causes and showed this in her words and actions.

Joan loved cats, fluffy live ones as well as stuffed ones, cat jewelry, cat statuary, cat blankets, cat clothes, et al. She also loved to play duplicate bridge, to socialize generally, and to see and hear anything and everything about the Golden State Warriors. In 2017, Joan fulfilled a long-time dream when she saw the Warriors play at Oracle.

Joan was predeceased by her son, Scott, her parents, and her two brothers. She is survived by her twin sister, Janet Hibbard (Arnold) Hedlund '55, and her nephew.
