After graduating from Pomona College in Claremont, California, I married Margaret Thompson of Webster Groves Missouri. Shortly, to avoid the draft for the Korean War, I enlisted, survived Basic Training, NCO School and OCS, graduating from the Army as a First Lieutenant, armored Force.

I enjoyed a successful career in Mortgage Banking, became Senior Fraud Investigator for the Pacific Coast for the FDIC/RTC and retired to Bend Oregon.

We have lived here for about 20 years, volunteering for the Forrest Service, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, taught Traditional Mountaineering classes at COCC, lead hikes and climbs in the Cascades and more.

Great place to grow up in the 1930s and 1940s! I had three sisters and an older brother who preceded me through Oneonta Grammar School, South Pasadena Junior High and SPSMSHS.

Few, after 67 years.

I built a 1932 Ford Roadster Hot Rod from parts, including a new 1946 Mercury truck V8 engine. I was fifth fastest roadster at El Mirage Dry Lake Trials at 106.8 mph. I drove it in South Pasadena in High School and in Claremont CA at Pomona College. My College girlfriend, now wife, Margaret Thompson, got me to sell the roadster and get a car with doors and window that would "lock when parked".

I built my car from parts. I added fenders and took it to Pomona College.

I became an able marathon runner.

I became a Sierra Club Mountaineering Leader and Instructor.

I write and code a large World Wide Web.

Forties and seventies favorites and classical music, of course.
