Ruth Stringer (Davy)

Ruth Stringer Davy

May 21, 1928 - December 20, 2021

Ruth Stringer Schultz Davy passed away in her sleep in Whitefish, Montana. Ruth was born in South Pasadena and was a longtime resident of Lakewood, California, then Sun City, Arizona. Ruth was an administrator at Long Beach City College throughout the 1970s-1990s, and a volunteer at Boswell Medical Center from 2003 to 2010 in Arizona.

Ruth was the 10th of 14 siblings and was the last surviving of that first Stringer Tribe. When she laughed, she would close her eyes, tears would squeeze out. She would clench her mouth so the sound wouldn't blast! She said that she and her sisters all laughed this way and together it made them laugh harder. Later, her grandchildren liked to laugh like this with her too. She was an avid believer in modern medicine. She could have been a doctor but life was different in the 1940s, especially when growing up part of an unconventionally large family in the middle of Los Angeles with artist parents. Ruth was very proud of her high school diploma and encouraged all of her progeny to get an even higher education.

Ruth did not see what a beautiful woman she was, as so many of us don't, from youth to old age. A beautiful, intelligent woman who helped many struggle through this modern world. She ate sugar-free and low-cal everything. She was smart and invested wisely, taking herself from a kid with no shoes to a woman who could travel and own property. She LOVED her sisters and brothers. They were each other's best friends throughout their lifetimes.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 50 exciting, hard, and rewarding years, Donal Dan Schultz and her daughter Susan; and her 13 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son John (Jeanie) Schultz and her six grandchildren.

Ruth had a love of gardening combined with her passion for people living with depression, anxiety, and as a result of circumstances or station. She was a great woman. She made the world a better place.
