In Memory

Caroline Moore (Kinkle) - Class Of 1945

Caroline Moore (Kinkle)

The wonderful Caroline Moore Kinkle passed away on December 2, 2020 at the age of 93 in Pasadena. A beloved mother, grandmother, and local philanthropist, Caroline will be dearly missed by family and friends. She will always be remembered for her joyful spirit, great sense of humor, and wholehearted laugh.

The second of three daughters born to Inez and James Moore, Caroline was born in San Diego and grew up in Altadena. She attended Eliot Junior High School and graduated from South Pasadena High School. Her college career began at Holmby-Westlake College in Holmby Hills. She went on to study at the University of California, Berkeley, where she pledged the Tri Delta sorority. Caroline had many great memories of the wonderful friends she made during her school days.

Caroline married George Kinkle in 1949 and raised three children in San Marino. Even as a busy mom, Caroline still found time to give back to her community. She was a board member of the PTA and San Marino Republican Club. Caroline was also the campaign manager for two congressional campaigns. More recently, she was a member of the Luminaires of the Doheny Eye Institute and also volunteered in the counseling ministry of her church in Pasadena. A strong supporter of community and national charities, Caroline was especially dedicated to animal welfare and to helping disabled veterans. Over the years the Kinkle household took in two dogs and more than 20 cats. All were strays or rescues. To say that Caroline was an animal lover would be an understatement.

Caroline was preceded in death by her husband George, to whom she was married for 65 years; and her daughter, Christi Kinkle Fredricks. She is survived by her son, George R Kinkle of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; her son, Cary (Jill) Kinkle of Pasadena; three granddaughters; and her sisters, Betty Hand of Sylmar, and Karen Sadlier of Marina del Rey.
