Philip H Greene, who died February 12, 2014 was the son of Josephine Hilliard and O Kenneth Greene. Born in Pasadena, California on August 28, 1925, Phil attended public schools in the adjacent communities of South Pasadena and San Marino, and is a graduate of Pomona College. He served as a naval officer during World War II and Korea, and was both a former director of the Southwest Water Company and vice president of a member firm of the New York Stock Exchange; and for many years was editor of The California Citrograph magazine.

Philip was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, the Society of the Cincinnati, and the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts. A competitive sailor, he formerly belonged to the Balboa and Newport Harbor yacht clubs of southern California.

He and his wife of more than 55 years, Marjorie Greene, who predeceased him, were long-time art collectors, assembling an important group of California-style watercolors, a number of which are in the permanent collection of the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College.

In recent years, Phil lived in Maine and New Hampshire, as well as California. He is survived by his son RADM Philip H Green, Jr (USN, Retired) and three grandchildren.
