In Memory

Pauline Knagge (Halstead) - Class Of 1965

Pauline Knagge (Halstead)

Pauline Knagge Halstead passed peacefully, and in a state of grace to her heavenly master on December 21, 2008. Polly was born September 13, 1947 in Tucson, Arizona to her parents Geraldine and Richard Knagge.

Her life was dedicated to those with special needs. Polly's many activities included driver of a school bus for the handicapped, a certified nursing assistant caregiver to the elderly, assisting chiropractic patients with massage therapy, and a lifelong dedication to assisting numerous food banks providing help to those in need.

After moving to Sandpoint, Idaho, she became an avid gardener with a special passion for flowers. Polly's garden always brought joy to those who visited. An extraordinary cook, silk ribbon embroiderer, singer with the Sweet Adelines, she had many interests and a great passion and zest for life. She laughed easily and often but was always ready with love, compassion, and understanding to serve loved ones and strangers alike when they were hurting. Though cancer was to eventually take her body after a courageous fight of nearly 12 years, it never diminished her spirit. And that was her greatest victory.

Polly is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Geoff Halstead of Sandpoint. She is also survived by her dear daughter Lyn Neumann of Elk Grove, California; her loving son Eric Coffey of Madera, California; five grandchildren; and sister Lucile Irskins of Tucson, Arizona.
