Barbara Putnam (Daly) - Class Of 1943

Barbara Putnam (Daly)

Barbara Daly, age 82, peacefully passed away December 24, 2007 in Bellevue, Washington after a battle with lung cancer. Preceding her in death were Richard Jenkins, her husband of 41 years and Gordon Daly, her second husband and long time friend. She is survived by her son, Mark Jenkins, (his wife, Kathy) her daughter, Laurie Jenkins, step-daughter, Erin Dow, (her husband, Les) and step-son, Donald Daly. Barbara is also survived by her brothers and their wives, Philip and Connie Putnam and Charles and Janice Putnam, many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Barbara was an avid tennis player and teacher most of her life. She also enjoyed working in Fred Meyer's pharmacy for several years, while caring for Richard. In her 70's, she moved on to golf with Gordon, with her athletic abilities surprising a new group of friends. Rainier Golf and Country Club was their home golf course and they lived in their condominium, Rainier House, on the eleventh fairway. Of course, Barbara was often a condo board officer, and was always taking care of whatever needed to be done for the building and the residents.

All who knew 'Barb' will remember her as a loving, supportive and positive influence. During her last difficult months, her greatest pains were from no longer being able to care for others and her own growing loss of independence. In typical Barb style, she did not want to 'bother anybody'.
