Louise Remy (Bruington)

Louise Bruington, 79, an active member of the Newcomers Alumni of Irvine, and the Women's Club of Irvine after moving to Irvine in 1979. She spent five years as a volunteer worker and as an advisor to Teen Orange Aides at the Tustin Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Encore Circle, support group for the Barclay Theater, of Stagedoor, for the Performing Arts Center, and of the Irvine Historical Society.

Besides her bright smile and outgoing friendliness, Louise was noted for serving in Girl Scouts for 35 years, as a leader for troops for her two daughters from Brownies through Senior Scouting and including six trips to Hawaii with Senior Scouts to top off their scouting careers, and as chief executive officer of the Mount Wilson Vistas Girl Scout Council; serving for ten years as member and President of the San Gabriel School Board, continuous attendance at the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, and her devotion to her husband of 56 years, Art, and their children, Bobbe Haley of Lake Tapps, Washington, Brad Bruington of Mission Viejo, and Becky Stanford of Dallas, Texas.

Louise was born in Pasadena to Katharine Lathrop and William Remy, who himself was a native Californian. She attended San Marino Schools, South Pasadena High School and Occidental College. She is survived by her children and their spouses; seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. She passed peacefully on December 17, 2008 at home in Lake Forest.
