Claire departed this earth in her Huntington Beach home on the evening of the Super Moon and Cinco de Mayo (May 5, 2012).  Born June 13, 1933 and raised in Pasadena, she was the daughter of Dr. Robert and Dorothy Gustafson.  She attended Polytechnic, graduated from South Pasadena High School, and Scripps.

Claire was a lifetime teacher; she taught school in Alta Loma and the Palm Springs area.  She made her home in Palm Springs from 1988-2007, where she enjoyed activities with American Legion, Republican Womens Club and Los Compadres. 

Claire leaves daughters Sue (Win) Phelps of La Verne, and Pam (Bruce) Skinner of Huntington Beach; brothers Robert (Linda) Gustafson of Olympia, Washington; twin brother Donald Gustafson of Palm Springs; and Glen (Jan) Gustafson of Catalina Island; and three grandchildren.
