Peter E Scott - Class Of 1951

Peter E Scott

Peter Eugene Scott, father and friend, passed away on May 4, 2017, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in New York on March 18, 1934, Pete was raised in South Pasadena. One of three brothers, he grew up in a world of sports. Ultimately he would become a star of South Pasadena athletics, proving himself to be a skilled, versatile athlete across the spectrum of football, basketball, and track and field. His number 43 jersey often figured prominently in the highlights of the 1950 football season. He continued to play football at John Muir, followed by a short stint on scholarship at Oregon State.

After serving his country in the US Army for two years, ultimately the man known as 'Scotty' and "Peto' and most often simply Pete, became a skilled construction hand. Though he chose to make his home in the Sierra foothills, in more than 30 years he proudly contributed to countless infrastructure projects across the northern and central sections of the great state of California. Throughout his life he continued to be an athlete, even late in life known for traveling with his mountain bike wherever he went.

In passing, Pete was surrounded by all of his children - Susan, Dianne, and Tom - as well as his sons-in-law Jay and Mike. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Though he was a man who was fiercely independent, he will forever be missed as a man known for his endless kindness, his credible willingness to help others before himself and his constant, ready, and genuine smile.
