Betty Slay (Slight)

Betty 'Corky' Slight, 92 of Stevensville, Montana, passed away March 18, 2016. She was born November 10, 1923 in Pasadena, California, to the late Erwin and Margret Slay. Corky was raised in Pasadena with her younger sister, Doris.

Corky had several jobs over the years, until she got into real estate, which became her passion. She was a million dollar seller for many years in Eldorado County, California. She married Bill DeArmond in 1943. From this union their daughter Dori Ann was born. They later divorced. In 1975 she met Ralph Slight. They were married the next year. They spent 40 wonderful years together until her passing. She was very passionate about animals, especially horses and dogs. She and Dori Ann spent many years going to horse shows together. She rescued many dogs over the years as well.

The family moved to Montana in 2005. She loved the mountain view from her yard, spending many hours sitting in the yard enjoying her dogs and beautiful flowers. Corky was preceded in death by her parents, sister Doris Slay Youngberg (SPHS '44), and daughter Dori Ann Glandon.

Corky is survived by her husband, Ralph of Stevensville; her son, Scott (Kim) Slight of Corvallis, Oregon; daughters Stacey Klare of Missoula, and Kimberly (Tim) Payne of Sacramento; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
