Julia Nan Snodgrass (Chapman) - Class Of 1945

Julia Nan Snodgrass (Chapman)

Nan S Chapman, 88, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2015, with family and caregivers at her side. She is survived by her sons, Geoffrey (Betsy) of Charlotte, North Carolina and David (Marty) of Irvine, California; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Nan was born April 7, 1927 in St Louis, Missouri and lived in several states throughout the mid-west as a child. During World War II her father's employer transferred him to Southern California and her family settled in San Marino. While living there during the latter part of the war years, Nan attended South Pasadena High School and graduated in 1945. From there she went back to the mid-west for two years and graduated from Stephens College (Columbia, Missouri) in 1947. Nan then attended the University of Southern California where she pledged the Alpha Phi sorority. It was during this time she met Paul Chapman, her beloved husband-to-be. During their 37 years of marriage they resided in Pasadena, San Mateo, and San Marino, finally moving to Newport Beach where Nan and Paul spent many happy years together.

Nan was a loyal friend and enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
